When trauma strikes, life is swung out of balance, leaving only a numbing sense of shock and disbelief. For many, this suffering is a long drawn-out process lasting months or even years. In these times of crisis, it is natural to question where God is in the midst of the struggle.
In GODISNOWHERE, pastor and chaplain Mickey Stonier brings forty years of experience in crisis counseling to help redirect your faith and perspective to see that God is still in control, that His promises still hold true, and that He is present and working to provide you hope and comfort.
GODISNOWHERE Where is God in the Midst of Your Pain? edition by Mickey Stonier Religion Spirituality eBooks
I attended the church where Mickey Stonier was assistant pastor, and found him to be probably the most compassionate pastor I've ever known. He has comforted thousands of people through the worst of times, so he is definitely qualified to write this book. I love that his book also includes some humor (i.e., Chapter One - "If the World Didn't Suck, We'd All Fall Off"), so I got to chuckle a little, too. When people hurt, they need time to grieve, but when we have a close relationship with the living God, we can make better sense out of the suffering and learn a thing or two. God wants to make us more like Jesus, and sometimes it takes going through the fire to get us there - make us more compassionate, less judgmental, less selfish. This is a wonderful book to read, not only to help us through the tough times, but to help us know how to help others. After we have been comforted by God, we can then comfort others. GODISNOWHERE Where is God in the Midst of Your Pain? edition by Mickey Stonier Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Mickey Stonier captures the true essence of God's love and mercy in the face of tragedy, struggle and pain. Regardless of your age, background, ethnicity or religious beliefs, this book offers insight into the hope we as humans can all have even while in the valleys. This book is timeless and it's antidotes essential. Beyond thankful to have read this book and allowed it's truths to saturate my life. Such an enjoyable read. 5 Stars no question!
Great book, must read!! Mickey's book offers much needed guidance while in the midst of pain and suffering. I enjoyed his incredible stories and loved the humor! A great resource to share with those in your life that are currently struggling with pain and suffering. Thank you Mickey!!
With so much suffering in today's world, it is guaranteed that you or someone you know needs this book! There are loads of scripture references to back up Stonier's observations about making sense of the pain we all go through and pointing us to the comfort that the Lord has for us. His bottom line truths that, "In God alone is our heart satisfied, and it is within His divine love that we know what authentic love is" and "Since God is in control, I can let go of the reins of my self-protection as He peels away the layers of my emotional fig leaves that attempt to cover my inadequacies, fears and insecurities" challenges us to grow in Christ and run in to God's presence at every opportunity. After all, God is still on His throne and He will help us. You need this book and so do your loved ones.
A friend gifted me this book at the perfect time.
Although the topics addressed can be heavy, Mickey shines a light into those dark places.
But...don't expect it to be a sticky-sweet band aid that only makes you feel better for a second. Between the pages are great healing biblical revelations on how God walks with us through the painful, un-explainable episodes of life to give us a deeper understanding of Him. On top of that, Mickey has an incredible sense of humor; which lends the lighthearted spin in just the right dose at various places throughout the book. Basically, It's not all heavy duty stuff...)
The bottom line is this--Life can be painful but STILL triumphant! In this day and age, the HOPE GODISNOWHERE lends is priceless.
What a GREAT encouragement to anyone going through a difficult season. I highly recommend this GEM!
Very Biblical and very practical. This is a great book for those in pain and for those who help people in pain.
Phenomenal book! Pastor Mickey leads the reader through his experiences and scriptures which assist the reader in developing an understanding that God is present during trials and pain.
