Just love Maxfield Parrish!
Is it still mother goose? Not to me. Jack is fast and is jumping carefully over the flame but without the rhyme it is not as fun.
If you remember and loved the nursery rhymes then you will love the stories as much as I do. My favorite is Pussy-cat Mew! I can't wait to visit my grandsons and read these stories to them!
No pictures in this edition, and about a quarter of the stories are outdated enough that I wouldn't want a kid to read them.
This is an excellent book with stories to back up the origional nursery rhymes. It is very interesting and fun to read to youngsters.

I have a Nook, so I had to get a for PC to be able to read these books... glad I did... I read the first story in this book, about the little boy who lived with his aunt and uncle, and took a sixpense to leave and not return... Sing a Song of Sixpense... I had never heard this version, I think I will love this book!! can't wait to read the rest of the stories!!! -)
