If this is a debut book, I have to say the author will certainly pleasure readers for many years to come if she managed to follow up this one.The writing style is the kind that does not spell everything out. I like that very much, even if it sometimes IS a bit annoying. The writer lets the reader guess about the motion reasons and causes of actions. There are innuendos, hints and half-told explanations in this story. The reader will read about reactions, but not always what caused them. The personalities will be peeled off as an onion, layer by layer. And there are obviously still more secrets to be revealed in the next story. Or to quote Adam: "You have no f**ing idea what is going on here." I have a hunch where the story is heading, but I beg the author - let Scott and Adam get their HEA, please! They seem to suit each other very well.
The most of the story follows Scott and his feelings and thoughts, but it is not written in "I-form", therefore even he is not straight forward.
He is an employee on probation in a firm that is about to acquire another firm. We actually never hear what kind of firm those are, but I would guess that "Scott's firm" is one of those who buy and sell firms, sometimes after a reorganisation. But it does not matter here. Scott has three close co-workers - Grace, Adam and Nathan - and the boss (Mr. King). We'll find out a bit after a bit about Scott, Adam and partly also Nathan (I am quite certain that he is going to play an important role in the next book), but Mr. King is at the end still a bit of an enigma.
The acquisition of the other firm is conveyed by a Russian (though the name points more to Ukrainian origins) who quite obviously excels in reading and manipulating people. There are hints that may imply that he indulges in the darker kind of sexual activities, too.
Then there is Patrick Walsh, the CEO of the other firm. He and Adam have had a relationship that ended badly,one that left Adam a withdrawn and bitter man. I would guess that the sale of their firm is meant as a revenge on Patrick's father, but also that must wait to the next book to get confirmed.
After re-reading my review I decided that I cannot say more, because otherwise I would spoil too much of the experience for potential readers. I enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to reading the rest - if for nothing else then to see if I've guessed right.
Probably the only objection I have is the frequent use of "the older man". Yes, Adam is older than Scott, but not that much (approx. 5-6 years) and using it almost every time Adam is mentioned, is a) tiring and b) making Adam look old.

Good book written by a first time author. Can't wait to see what book two in the series will bring.
Okay I get it the author was trying to be original and I must say she did it. This was a spin on a work romance story with sabotage and intrigue, setup for the next novel. I questioned a few parts of the story and the red editing ink bugged me. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, I am hoping its available soon. Nice job! Oh yeah and the sex scenes seemed painful seven tries before it's in? Well just saying.
It was a sweet book for first time author Bella Adams. I'm a big fan of MM romance, and boy was it romantic (wagging eyebrows). I fell in love both of the main characters and really like some of the others. I can't wait to see what she has in store for all of them and how she develops. I have great hopes for this young author and eagerly await her next in the series.
I'm a reader of M/M romance, and this book hit all the right notes for me. Terrific character development, realistic relationships between characters, exciting story progression. I just fell in love with Scott, his sweetness and uncertainty. Adam, putting up his gruff bravado to keep everyone at a distance. From their first encounter, the sparks and fire were burning hot, and the sexy scenes kept the flames stoked. I mean, like....had to re-read all of them! There is enough mystery and intrigue here to keep me waiting for Book 2.
